Product description
The Razor Shell or Solen Marginatus is a bivalve with a fragile, elongated shell, with symmetrical, slightly concave valves and a straight and oblique anterior extremity. Smooth surface, with fine growth striations. Muscular impression shorter than the length of the ligament intervalvar. Chestnut yellow and white inside.
It is packaged in a plastic box containing 7 - 10 pieces held in place by an elastic band or lycra.
Main characteristics
They live on the coasts of the Atlantic Ocean, both in Europe and North Africa. They also live on the coasts of the Mediterranean Sea. Our collection takes place in the Atlantic of the Iberian Peninsula.
This species lives buried and colonises sandy bottoms, with a preference for open beaches. They are able to bury themselves quickly at great depths. They remain buried, creating siphons out of the sand and sucking and expelling the water they filter.
Very popular for surf casting.
Availability
Available all year round, but may be subject to shortages due to inclement weather.
All worms can have a loss of 40 % of their original weight, according to species.
Recommended fish
Giving that the fishing pieces are variable depending on the season, technique and geographical area, this bait is appreciated and versatile. Highly recommended for white seabream, gilthead seabream, stripped sea bream, sea bass or red porgy.
Tips for good conservation
Temperature between 8 and 12 °C.
