Product description
The earthworm, or Eisenia foetida, is also known as the Californian earthworm. Dark red in colour, this oligochaete ranges in size from 3 to 8 cm. It breathes through its skin. This worm has 5 hearts, 6 pairs of kidneys and a clitellum in its reproductive zone.
It is packaged in a plastic box on a natural soil base.
Main characteristics
This species lives in humid environments. It is highly photosensitive. If exposed to sunlight, it can die within minutes. It feeds on organic remains of animals and plants and is also very valuable as a fertiliser.
The humus produced by this earthworm is an excellent fertiliser for grassland, fruit trees and various vegetables.
It is highly recommended for still and coup fishing. A good worm makes a difference in turbid or high water.
Availability
Available all year round, but may be subject to shortages due to inclement weather.
All worms can have a loss of 40 % of their original weight, according to species.
Recommended fish
It is a bait suitable for any type of freshwater fish: eel, common carp, barbel, chub, bleak… Always considering the appropriate legislation according to species or seasonal period.
Tips for good conservation
Temperature between 4 and 10 °C.
